about one third of an average dump is made out of packaging material

As consumers, we know that a every product bought today is packaged
most of then over packed for good looking reasons, and most of us may buy a better packaged product than a not so well packaged one.

what we also need to know is the fact that these packaging waste produce a lot of waste both while they are being produced and while it goes through different stages of packing.

a lot the packaging waste eventually ends up into land fills

Plastic bags and other plastic garbage thrown into the ocean kill as many as 1,000,000 sea creatures every year!

isint this sad !

though everyone who have undergone somekind of schooling has been informed about the hazards
of plastic waste and the hazards of it reaching the environment.

a lot of plastic still manages to reach the various rivers, lakes, ponds, seas.

plastic recycling saves twice as much energy as burning it in an incinerator

"Incineration is inconsistent with reduction, re-use and recycling because it relies on a steady, large quantity of mixed waste. It is a superficial solution which does not attack the root of the problem

Recycling is a better option in terms of greenhouse gas emissions than incineration (even with energy recovery). A recent study for the European Commission found that separating waste at source followed by recycling (for paper, metals, textiles and plastics) and composting or anaerobic digestion (for putrescible wastes) gives the lowest net flux of greenhouse gases, compared with other options for the treatment of bulk municipal waste

The energy saved by recycling 1 plastic bottle will power a computer for 25 minutes.

Methane is about 21 times worse than carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas.
